The nation's capital has played home to a huge number of acts over the years. Whether London born-and-bred, or simply adopting it later on, many bands have cut their teeth in this old city. From Camden to Soho, there are dozens of venues for new and old acts alike, from the hip Village Underground, the historic Royal Albert Hall, and the humongous O2 arena (née the Millenium Dome). If they aren't enough, there's even Wembley with its huge arches (although make sure you know whether you're going to Wembley Stadium or Wembley Arena - there's nothing worse than thinking you're going to watch BTS and ending up at an England match).

As for home-grown talent, London can boast more than most. The Clash, The Sex Pistols and The Damned began the UK punk movement in the pubs of London. Prior to that, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, who formed in London, had created psychadelic rock. This quirky mantle was later picked up by the great David Bowie, whilst the heavier side of that spectrum has been continued by Iron Maiden. Even though London can't lay claim to The Beatles, the fab four famously recorded out of the legendary Abbey Road studios. while London also birthed arguably their greatest rivals The Rolling Stones.

More recently, grime music hails from the "Big Smoke", with acts such as Dizzee Rascal, Stormzy and Skepta all coming from the area.
